IMPLANT TORQUE BY BRAND

Nine implant systems. Every torque, sourced.

Placement, healing, abutment, prosthetic screw, multi-unit, temporary — for Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Neodent, Zimmer Biomet, BioHorizons, Osstem, MIS, Megagen and Hiossen. Each value is quoted from the manufacturer’s document, and every gap is stated as a gap.

Values are quoted from manufacturer documentation and can change by component, platform and revision. Confirm the IFU for the component and lot in your hand before torquing.

THE SYSTEMS

Same connection type, different numbers.

A conical connection at 20 Ncm and an internal hex at 35 Ncm can sit in the same arch. The brand page tells you which is which before the wrench is set.

WHY THE SCREW LOOSENS

You torqued it. Then the metal settled.

Torque creates preload — the clamping force that keeps abutment and implant pressed together. Microscopic peaks on the thread surfaces flatten under that load, and part of the preload is gone before the patient leaves the chair. The literature calls it the settling effect, or embedment relaxation.

HOW TO READ THESE PAGES

Quoted, labelled, dated.

Manufacturer document

The value is quoted from an IFU, surgical or prosthetic manual, or torque guide, and that document is named beside the row.

Not published — confirm IFU

The documents we read do not give a number for that component. The row says so instead of borrowing a value from a neighbour.

Revision year

Each brand page lists the documents read and the newest revision year. Your printed IFU wins over this page.

QUESTIONS

Asked before the wrench is set.

Values are quoted from manufacturer documentation and can change by component, platform and revision. Confirm the IFU for the component and lot in your hand before torquing.

01Is there a single torque value for all dental implants?+

No. Final abutment screws on the nine systems here range from 20 Ncm (conical connections such as Neodent Grand Morse two-piece abutments, BioHorizons Tapered Pro Conical, 3i Certain) to 35 Ncm (Straumann Bone Level, Nobel Biocare standard abutments). Prosthetic screws on multi-unit abutments are typically 10–20 Ncm. Placement torque is stated as floors, ceilings or device limits depending on the manufacturer.

02Why does the same brand list 15 and 35 Ncm for a multi-unit?+

Because there are two screws. The multi-unit abutment tightens into the implant (often 30–35 Ncm, sometimes lower for angled versions), and the prosthetic screw tightens the bridge onto the abutment (often 15 Ncm or less). Each brand page separates the two rows.

03What if my system is not listed?+

Use the manufacturer’s IFU. In TrazaLab the torque field accepts the manufacturer values and a “per manufacturer” option, so the case record still carries what was applied.

AFTER THE CLICK

Read the value here. Keep it in the case.

TrazaLab records the implant line with its torque on the tooth site, writes it into the Digital Rx, and shows the laboratory exactly what was applied — or exactly what was not confirmed.
