SHARED GUIDE

Large Files: CBCT, STL, DICOM

Dedicated view for heavy clinical files that do not fit in the normal photo flow. Grouped by order, color-coded by category, native 3D viewer for STL/OBJ/PLY and direct download for the rest. Lives separately from File Center so searches stay fast.

vs File Center
Categories
3D Viewer
Not the same as File Center
Why this view is separate
The File Center groups everything — clinical photos, small scans, documents. When you work with 200 MB CBCTs or 80 MB STL scans, that list gets unwieldy. Large Files filters only the heavy files (over 25 MB) so you find them fast.
FILTERED BY SIZE
Any file 25 MB or larger appears automatically in Large Files in addition to the File Center. They are not duplicated — same data, two entry points. If you open the file from either side, it goes to the same storage.
WITH ?CASEID= PARAMETER
By default the view shows all your large files across all orders. If you open an order and from there go to Large Files, the view filters to that order only — the caseId is passed in the URL. The natural shortcut for "I want María's case CBCT".
FASTER LOAD
Since the list is shorter, the view loads much faster than the full File Center. If you are in front of the patient and need to show the CBCT on screen in 3 seconds, you open Large Files — not the full Center.
When not to use it: When not to use it: if all your files are regular clinical photos (1-3 MB), Large Files will be empty. The view only matters if you work with CBCTs, heavy STLs, or DICOM in your practice. Surgeons without their own imaging gear can ignore this view.

Five visible categories
Each file has a color on its left edge based on type. You spot what is what at a glance without opening each one.

GROUPED BY ORDER
Files are listed under the order ID they belong to. If an order has a CBCT, a panoramic, and two STLs, all four appear together — not scattered through a global list. The group header takes you to the full order.
HOW TO UPLOAD
They are not uploaded from Large Files — they are uploaded from the order they belong to. The + Upload large file button exists on each order, inside that case's File Center. The upload accepts drag/drop and shows real progress.
Max file size: Up to 5 GB per individual file. Enough for fully diagnostic CBCTs. If you need to upload something even larger, write Support — there are exception configurations for research cases.
Native 3D viewer
Open STL/OBJ/PLY without downloading
For the most common 3D formats in digital dentistry, TrazaLab has a browser-integrated viewer. You tap the file, the model opens, you rotate with mouse or fingers on tablet. No need to install Meshmixer or the OS 3D viewer.
VIEWER CONTROLS
Left click + drag = rotate. Right click + drag = pan. Mouse wheel = zoom. Header buttons: front view, occlusal, right side, left side, top. R key = reset to default view.
MEASURE DISTANCES
Measure button in the header. You tap two points on the model and the distance shows in millimeters. For precise measurements the scan must be calibrated — STLs exported by modern scanners (TRIOS, iTero, Medit, Primescan) come correctly scaled by default.
DOWNLOAD FOR EXTERNAL SOFTWARE
If you need to work the STL in exocad, 3Shape, DentalWings, or Meshmixer, the Download button retrieves the native file uncompressed. The TrazaLab viewer is for review and sharing, not for designing — design lives in your CAD.
DICOM/CBCT DOES NOT OPEN IN THIS VIEWER
The native 3D viewer does not handle DICOM volumes — that is radiology, not mesh. For CBCT you open TrazaPano (panoramic + AI analysis) or download the DICOM and open it in your radiology software. Each format has its right tool.
Share with the lab: Any large file you link to the order is already visible to the lab on their side — no need to email or WeTransfer it. The 3D viewer works the same on the lab side. Same file, same views, no second copies.
CBCT and STL as first-class citizens
If your practice works 3D imaging, Large Files spares you the WeTransfer pain and shared drives. The patient sees the model on your screen; the lab gets it without a second copy.
